Dear Parents

It is with great pleasure that I say hello to you on behalf of the Governors, Staff and Pupils of our school. I thoroughly enjoy working at Oakridge and sincerely hope that you and your child's association with us proves to be equally happy.

At Oakridge Primary School every child is as important as the next. In short every child matters. High self esteem is encouraged, high expectations, standards and values are fostered and progress and achievement are positively monitored and celebrated. We believe that all children can achieve and that no child is left behind.

Oakridge has many qualities, the most important of these being a dedicated and caring staff Our Vision Statement 'We would like our children to go into the wider world as well rounded and happy, aspirational and forward thinking, responsible citizens who remain life long learners adaptable to the changing technological advances'who share a wealth of experience. In addition we have excellent facilities and enjoy support from the community at large. These factors help us to provide the highest standards of education for your child. In partnership with parents we strive to ensure continued academic success and develop personal qualities in pupils of which we can be proud.

Our curriculum, whilst complying with National Curriculum, is skills based focusing on teaching children to be outstanding learners,providing exciting and challenging learning opportunities steeped in real life experiences. We seek to provide every opportunity for children to apply Literacy, Numeracy and Information technology skills across their learning in addition to co-operative group work and presentation skills. We want all children to achieve the highest possible standards and make maximum progress in relation to their prior learning. We want children to enjoy acquiring and using knowledge and skills, to question and explore, to acquire positive attitudes, behaviour and personal beliefs and gain independence……… to become lifelong learners.
