Enrichment
Enrichment at Oakridge
Our school vision states that we believe in making our children world-class learners by providing a ‘Disney Land’ curriculum with a fantastic range of opportunities which engage, enrich and excite them as learners. Each year staff plan a wide range of enrichment activities within all year groups to enhance our curriculum still further as well as to give the children experiences that they may well not be able to get within school. No child has ever thanked a teacher for a giving them a photocopied sheet to label, that is why these activities are an integral part of our school curriculum helping to make the children’s learning real and give our children the ‘cultural capital’ that we believe is important.
‘I just wanted to say a really big “thank you” to you and your staff team for taking the Children on their trip to Liverpool today. Harry has come back full of beans telling us all about. He seemed to have loved every bit of it from the coach trip, the ferry on the Mersey and the Museum! In fact he said to me “mom we need to go there as a family so I can show you, Dad and James all the best bits!”. I thought that was lovely. Harry has had a super time, so I really just wanted to pass on my sincere thanks to you and all the staff for an excellent trip and for looking after him getting him and everyone home safely.’
I just wanted to take the time to thank all the staff who have made this amazing trip to Ireland happen. Hannah has not stopped talking about it! We have had a virtual tour of New Grange, learnt all about the 1916 uprising and what a rebel actually is as well as hearing all about Celtic art and the tri circle. Trips like this are a brilliant opportunity for our children to experience and to learn so much. Thank you to the whole team who have gone out of their way to organise this, complete all the risk assessments and think about the bigger picture that learning is about experiencing and doing!
