School Admissions - Online Applications

The School Admissions Team at Staffordshire County Council allocate all school Reception class places - for further details on the admissions process including admission criteria, catchment areas, appeals etc please follow this link to Staffordshire County Council website. School Admissions do not issue application forms as the Service is keen to provide a paperless system in all its admissions processes wherever possible. Their website also gives details if you wish to apply for a mid-year transfer, but we would request that you contact the school first.

Reception

The Reception September 2024 admissions process will open on 1st November 2023 and closes on 15th January 2024. Staffordshire County Council will offer places on 16th April 2024.

Nursery

The Nursery admissions process for admission in September 2024 opens on 5th February 2024 and closes on 15th March.  Places will be offered no later than 22nd March 2024.  We can accept 24 children in our Morning Nursery and a maximum of 24 children in our afternoon sessions.  We currently have a few places available in our afternoon sessions - please get in touch if you are interested - or complete the Nursery Admission form at the bottom of this page.

If you wish to apply for a place for your child to start in September 2024 please download an application form from below.  Please return your completed form to admissions@oakridge.staffs.sch.uk.  When we receive your application we will send an acknowledgement. If you do not receive this within 72 hours please call us to check we have received it.

If you wish to apply for a place for your child to start, at a date other than September, please use the same form but state your preferred start date, and we will be in touch.  Oakridge Primary School will be administering the Nursery application process with places offered by ourselves and will follow our admissions policy.  Please email this to application to office@oakridge.staffs.sch.uk.

Children who are already in our Nursery may increase their hours as the year progresses.  If you would like to add additional hours please complete the form below.

Visits to School

Prospective parents are welcome to visit school prior to their child starting school. We are pleased that once again we are able to offer some Open Mornings so that parents may visit our school, meet the Headteacher and staff as well as ask any questions. Please see below for the days and times.

Please note that an evening induction meeting for parents takes place in the summer term prior to your child starting school. The meeting gives you the opportunity to ask any questions or highlight any concerns that you may have. Children joining our Nursery and Reception classes will also be invited to attend morning Induction sessions at the end of the summer term prior to them starting in the September.

Admissions to other year groups

We have a class size limit of thirty children in Reception, Year One and Year Two.  These classes can occasionally exceed thirty, if the Local Authority has accepted pupils as ‘permitted exceptions’ which breach the government's class size pledge.  Our Key Stage Two classes (Years Three, Four, Five and Six), have a class size limit of thirty, although we are sometimes able to admit more than 30 pupils.

We may have places available in our Year 3 class in September.  If you are interested please get in touch or submit an In-year Application form, and we will be in touch.

If you would like to apply for a place, then parents are asked to submit an 'In-year Application' form supplied by Staffordshire County Council (download a copy of the form here).  There is a section which must be completed by your child's current headteacher.  The completed form should be submitted to Oakridge Primary School.  Following receipt of an application, we will notify SCC of the application and its status; you will receive a letter stating whether or not a place can be offered.  This letter will also outline the next steps in terms of preparing to start or appealing the decision

Open Mornings

We hold Open Mornings for prospective parents of Nursery and Reception children; this is a chance to meet the Headteacher, have a tour of the school with a chance to ask any questions.  All sessions last around an hour.

Our next round of Open Mornings will be in the Autumn term.

Nursery Education

Children are admitted to Nursery in the September of the year they reach four. Date of birth between 01.09.20 and 31.08.21 for September 2024 entry.

Children join Oakridge Nursery at the beginning of the Autumn Term (in September) following Home Visits from staff. The maximum number of children for the Nursery session is 24. Nursery provision is three hours per day; 8:50am to 11:50am. This provides the 15 funded hours. Wrap around care is also available from 11:50am onwards.

Children who are unable to attend the morning session in the Nursery are able to access Little Oaks after the morning Nursery session has finished. This service is available as soon as your child is 3 years of age, but funding would not be available until the first term after their third birthday. For example if your child was 3 in November they could attend Little Oaks as soon as they had turned 3 but payment would be required until the end of that term; funding is then available at the start of the next term in January. For those children who are eligible for the new two-year-old funding, as long as the funding has been applied for, these children may start in the same term that they turn 3 without any charge.

The school also offers the full 30 hours Nursery provision - full details are available during our Open Mornings or by contacting the school office. Further information on eligibility can be found by clicking here.

More information on times and prices are available in the Wrap around Care section of the website.

Primary Education - Reception

Children join the Reception class of Oakridge Primary School in September of the year they reach five. Allocations are made by the Local Authority in line with their Admissions Policy. If you are considering applying for your child to attend Oakridge Primary School, please join us for one of our Open Mornings. Current admission numbers for the school are 30.
